Relatively inexpensive controlled descent devices for all types of multi-level buildings can greatly increase the chances of survival. These devices are simple to use and offer a realistic alternative to jumping when the usual escape routes are blocked.

Please bear in mind that a high-rise building is not necessarily a sky-scraper, but any structure too high to make a safe, direct manual exit from (usually two floors and above).
